I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in both individual and group psychotherapies. I have gained over 10 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, and the elderly population. In my experience, I have obtained a wide array of knowledge and expertise with various issues, including, but not exclusive to, depression, anger management, mood swings, anxiety, phobias, trauma/abuse, low self-esteem and poor self-image, emotional stress associated with physical/medical ailments, grief/loss, life transitions, family/relationship problems, and work/school-related stress.
In working with my clients, I tend to implement an eclectic approach with a strong emphasis on person-centered care, mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral therapeutic techniques as well as dialectical-behavioral methods. I am also trained in EMDR treatment and somatic psychotherapy which are effective in treating depression, anxiety, and recovering from trauma. I strive to adapt my therapeutic approach to fit the needs of each individual. My main focus is to apply my interventions with dedicated compassion, support, and encouragement, useful feedback, and unwavering non-judgemental positive regard. I am also effective in challenging my clients when needed, especially when they become stuck or immobilized.
I graduated from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY with my Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling. I am a proud alumni and current member of St. John Fisher's Affinity Group. After graduation, I pursued my licensure as a mental health counselor issued by the New York State Education Department. At this time, I am a member of the New York Mental Health Counseling Association and EMDR International Association.
